Education at University of Manitoba. Admitted to the Bar of Manitoba in 1966. Practised with the Winnipeg firm of Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson and predecessor firms. Appointed Queen's Counsel in 1979. Lectured in transportation law at the Manitoba Law School for over twenty years. Adjudicator under the Manitoba Human Rights Act and the Canadian Human Rights Act. Appointed Judge of the Federal Court Trial Division and ex officio member of the Court of Appeal and appointed Judge of the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada, 1992 and judicial member of the Competition Tribunal from 1993-1999. Appointed Judge of the Federal Court of Canada, Appeal Division, 1999. Since July 2, 2003, the date of the coming into force of the Courts Administration Service Act, he is now Judge of the Federal Court of Appeal.
